Join us Saturday, October 5th from 12pm - 5pm for the HEALTH & WELLNESS POP-UP SHOP & PANEL DISCUSSION presented by Express Newark and Makerhoods. Enjoy an afternoon of shopping health and wellness small businesses, a panel discussion, networking, food, and music! The HEALTH & WELLNESS POP-UP SHOP & PANEL DISCUSSION aims to attract Newark residents into Express Newark to engage with local & regional small businesses. Our panel discussion will engage three small business creatives in a riveting conversation about productivity, personality/brand building, and enhanced storytelling to create a connection with your social media following.


Event Programming

12PM | POP-UP SHOP DOORS OPEN
Come shop with our hand-selected health and wellness brands. This pop-up shop will feature items from multivitamin teas to candles and oils. Load-up on holiday gifts (for you and the ones you love!) that help to embrace our wellness destinies.

1PM | HEALTH & WELLNESS PANEL DISCUSSION
The discussion will engage three small business creatives in a riveting conversation about productivity, personality/brand building, and enhanced storytelling to create a connection with your social media following. The panel will feature Tehsuan Glover (Publisher of The Newark Times), Rebekah Love (Founder of Organize for Love), and Ryan Arnez Monroe (Owner/Creative Director of RyArMo Photography Studio).


About the Panelist

Rebekah Love is a writer, organization professional, and doctoral student. She’s studying Social Psychology in New York which she uses as a foundation for her brand, Organize for Love. She bridges education, creativity, and business brand to address issues on identity, mental health, race, gender, and community. When she’s not writing an email on productivity, she’s finding new ways to make her and her fiancés home even more comfy and cozy.

Ryan Arnez Monroe is Owner/Creative Director of RyArMo Photography Studio, which has been Newark based since 2018 after relocation from BedStuy Brooklyn. Ryan is an accomplished Event Portraiture & Commercial Photographer that freelances for an array of local anchor institutions, major NYC based corporations while managing a growing studio clientele. RyArMo Photography Studio with the support of many local stakeholders has quickly morphed from solely being a commercial photography studio to a flex use creative space empowering other and engendering Entrepreneurship.

Danielle M. DeFilippis focuses her practice on intellectual property matters and litigation. She has represented clients in a variety of industries, most notably, food and beverage, liquor, jewelry, cosmetics, sports, and entertainment. Danielle has represented clients in cases involving trademark and copyright infringement, false advertising, commercial disparagement, business torts, deceptive trade practices, Lanham Act claims, state and federal unfair competition laws, and other business disputes.

Daniel R. Guadalupe represents clients in commercial litigation and “outside” general counsel assistance with a specialty in manufacturing and distribution, business disputes, medical device companies, construction, professional liability, arbitrations and mediations, will and trust litigation, and international matters, and disputes. Dan previously served on the Board of Trustees for GlassRoots, Inc. in Newark.

Learn how to style and photograph your food to tell a story, set a mood, and complement your brand at our Food Photography & Styling 101 workshop presented by Hudson Kitchen and Makerhoods.org

Christina Branco, founder of Starving Artist Food Photography, will guide attendees through a hands-on session where they will learn to observe food closely and work with lighting and props to create images with mobile phones.

Attendees will learn how to:

  • Shoot and edit photos on an iPhone or Android device

  • Improve images with the use of proper lighting

  • Choose the best angle for food products

  • Select and arrange props

  • Curate a stylish Instagram feed and create photos for IG stories 

Schedule:

  • 10:00-11:00: Discussion and presentation on basic food photography and styling

  • 11:00-11:30: Question and answer session

  • 11:30-1:00: A “working” lunch and hands-on styling session
