  • Plants! I’d never cared for them before, and learning sparked a desire to create an approachable, fun space for others. Fern & Fossil began with terrariums and naturally expanded into a café, a calm, creative place to connect.

  • Through the 100K Bootcamp during the pandemic. It ended up being a turning point in my journey. As for my experience, incredible. It’s a supportive, inspiring group of fellow micro-entrepreneurs. As a solo-preneur, having that network has meant a lot.

  • It taught me to work on the business, not just in it. The mentorship and financial reviews gave me clarity and strategic focus.

  • We’re planning a grand opening and expanding the menu—egg sandwiches and maybe grilled cheese! I’m excited to keep growing Fern & Fossil as a true community space.

Fabyoulife was born out of my own journey with skin issues and a love for smelling good.

Back in 2013, using my background in chemistry, I started making products in my kitchen using natural and organic ingredients that delivered real results.

Since then, we've come a long way! What started as a hobby has blossomed into hundreds of orders shipped and 5-star reviews.  It's been an incredible journey of growth, learning, and growing an amazing community!

My journey here at Makerhoods has been challenging, but in a good way. As I transition my business by operating it more like a true entrepreneur, I am learning how to work on my business and less in my business. This part is hard to do as you begin to put structure in your business and allow other people to assist with the manufacturing of the products. With the hands on mentorship availed by business I am seeing my business in a new light.

Being a part of the Newark Makerhoods community has allowed me to connect with some amazing makers with whom we have been able to collaborate in events, Ladies Day Out, and products such as candles for Undra Celeste NY and soap containing the coffee grinds from Fern and Fossil Cafe. Events like the Jazz Nights at Newark Makerhoods hosted by a fellow maker has brought new customers into my shop.

Makerhoods has been a game-changer for Under Celeste NYC. As a small, purpose-driven brand, we needed more than just space- we needed a community, mentorship, and real business support.

Makerhoods delivered all that and more. From the workshops to the one-on-one coaching, every part of the journey has helped us grow not just our business, but our confidence as entrepreneurs. The connections we’ve made here have opened doors we never imagined.

We’re not just building a brand. We’re building a future, and Makerhoods has been a cornerstone in that path.
