Makerhoods Expectations

These expectations are in place to ensure that the community is a vibrant place of commerce. Makers will be regularly evaluated on the progress of their business and adherence to the community expectations.
Makers are expected to:
Understand and agree that Makerhoods will not be operating the business and is not responsible for decisions you make.
Timely pay the apartment and shop rent, along with any related fees and expenses. The program does not offer free, reduced or payment plans for these obligations.
Use the commercial space and amenities solely for the business described in the Maker application.
Have the Maker Shop opened to the public at least 5 days per week during typical Shopping Hours, 10am - 6pm.
Fully engage in the Makerhoods business development services and participate in Makerhoods events which may include evenings or weekends on occasion.
Collaborate, share expertise, share ideas, and build a business community with other Makers in Newark Makerhoods.
Share business data and financials with Makerhoods program management for the purpose of receiving business advice and coaching.
Exemplify the entrepreneurial mindset and be open to learning from the teachings and constructive criticism of business leaders and peers in the program and explore new and alternative approaches to growing their business.

Makerhoods expectations, policies, and community guidelines are subject to management discretion and ongoing update. Updates will be communicated to Makers via email and/or flyers. Failure to comply with the expectations and policies will result in removal from the program and termination of the commercial lease.
At Newark Makerhoods we strive to create a vibrant community for all residents. We do this through creative entrepreneurs who grow profitable businesses that create prosperity, secure their futures, and build inter-generational wealth, and through building a strong live/work neighborhood wherein our entrepreneurs set an example for the broader community through business expertise, community stewardship, and leadership.
**Makerhoods does not operate the businesses in the program nor does the program offer cash or any form of subsidy for commercial or personal needs.
